I made this jacket for the 2020 San Diego County Fair. My dear friend, Laura, and I had been going to the fair together for most of the past forty years and I had decided during our 2019 visit that I would submit a sewing project in 2020. The theme for the 2020 fair, Heroes Unite, was announced late fall 2019. I decided to make a denim jacket and line it with this fabulous fabric from Spoonflower.com, that featured all four women of the Supreme Court (RBG was still with us at this time, so no ACB yet). I embroidered on the collar as an homage to RBG and her lace collars. Alas, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the 2020 fair to be postponed until 2021. I moved from San Diego to Eastern Idaho in August 2020 so never did make it to the fair.
